The women of Cartografica Visceglia: Rosangela Visceglia

The women of Cartografica Visceglia: Rosangela Visceglia

On the occasion of International Women's Day, Visceglia wants to celebrate a fundamental female figure in the history of the activity: Rosangela Visceglia, daughter of Vincenzo Visceglia, the founder of the Cartografica of the same name.

Vincenzo Visceglia passed on his great passion for geography and cartography to his daughter Rosangela who, thanks to her studies in architecture and drawing, became a valid collaborator of the man starting from the 1950s, and then took over the reins upon his death in 1971. In the footsteps of her father's production and his innovative imprinting, Rosangela developed a series of administrative geographical maps of the Provinces of Italy.

Vincenzo taught Rosangela not only the cartographic technique, but also the rigor and enthusiasm for this work. Enthusiasm and rigor then passed on to me, Laura Ottaviani, third generation of the company, who today I lead with love and dedication.

My mother was a model of dedication to work and family for me. A woman who managed to combine the private and working spheres in a period in which the female condition was disadvantaged compared to the male one. She always encouraged me to improve and believe in myself and my abilities.

A phrase he often repeated comes to mind: "A small error on a map becomes thousands of errors on thousands of printed copies". Thanks to this lesson, I learned to see our work as a mission to fulfill to satisfy customer requests, make ourselves reliable and produce valuable content.
